Pop-Up: First Vendor Market

The Emerald Rose Boutique had the pleasure of attending Owensboro’s Girls Day Out as a VENDOR!! We were so excited and sooo nervous/anxious at the same time!  We have set up shop only once before at a local salon (shout out to Salon 180 in Morganfield, KY for welcoming us with open arms), but this was our FIRST of hopefully many vendor markets! We definitely had our work cut out for us the 2 weeks prior!  We had so many new arrivals that needed to be inspected, steamed, itemized into inventory, photographed, tagged, and finalized on to our website/POS system.... “Work” Trip

If you have never been to market or even heard about it, the whole experience can be very overwhelming but so EXCITING at the same time!  If you do not do your research beforehand to prepare and have a plan in place you will be lost in a hurry! My sister and I have been lucky to have both experienced going to market with our aunt, who also owns her own boutique in Louisville, KY, before we dove into the business ourselves! Journey to Launch

What a roller coaster this journey has been already!! We decided in January 2020 that an online boutique is what we wanted to do! A dream that we wanted to make a reality.  All the planning, registering our business, applying for licenses, permits, etc. were all taking place! Many late nights of researching the best way to make all this happen! We were finally ready to make our first inventory purchase that ERB would be bringing to our beautiful new customers and then...COVID-19. A new deadly virus, shut downs all over the country, and soooo many unknowns put our dream at a big fat HALT.  How could we open a brand new “small” business in a “small” town when all this...

The Meaning Behind the Name

Coming up with a “business” name does not come easy. Many ideas were tossed around. Text messages back and forth from sister to sister throwing words around but nothing ever felt right. We knew we wanted it to mean something to us! We took a piece of ourselves and put it together!
